English Romance
Shades of deep burgundy, soft pastel apricots, pinks and lilacs created an eye-catching display for this English romantic styled wedding, held in rural Devon. This whimsical style works perfectly within a historical building full to the brim with character, think of gnarly beams, rough textured walls and raw finishes.
The flower arrangements for this particular wedding were gorgeously feminine and effortlessly stylish. Flower arrangements were full of variety, oozing with charismatic hues and a dynamic feel. It almost felt that these carefully chosen flowers were plucked from an old English country walled garden. They embraced and provoked a romantic and familiar feel, classically elegant and stunning.
The bride and groom for this wedding had a jet black old vintage bike with a weaved basket at the front that was calling for a flower arrangement full of florals and greenery. The backdrop of the old barn helped celebrate the old english country impression further with old farming relics dotted around the base of the barn, contrasting with delicate white hydrangea heads, Ruscus and Miss Piggy Roses. Beautifully bijou, the barn setting added to the intimate and close knit family feeling. Combining delicate English flowers and the old-worldly setting made for an enchanting and fairy tale ambiance.
Packed full of color and form, the brides bouquet and arrangements were the attention grabbers, so the bridemaids bouquets were calling to be simplistic, understated, but still gorgeous and delicate. A single hydrangea in either a soft pale pink or white, mixed with dainty Baby's Breath is a dreamy combination that provokes a calm and graceful feeling. The brides bouquet developed into a dreamy and charming mix of flowers with sumptious pinks in blush, coral and salmon tones. Such a scrumptious assortment of colours! Ruscus, Gypsophila Paniculata, Roses and Peonies were integrated to give a quintessentially English countryside feel. Roses and Peonies are timelessly sophisticated with silky soft petals and a pleasing form.
We had the opportunity to add more floral elements to this wedding. Flower arrangements in large milk churn vessels flanked the entrance to the church and hanging floral pieces were carefully tied up in the barn. Westcott Barton, Devon has these chunky textural ropes swagged across the stone walls inside the barn, which provide space for more floral embellishment. The colourful cascading arrangements dotted around the walls personalized the setting, injecting elegance and helping to transform the space. To tie in with the brides wedding bouquet some of the flowers were repeated into these displays with some extra fresh flowers from flamboyant yellow nerines or amarines and lilacs.
